it looks around 85% likely that i will be hired again by the school to teach 6 electives. the new principal is making a big effort to get me hired as a full time teacher and retain me, which is my desire. i will again have 2 construction and design classes with a structural emphasis and then create 2 classes of C&D with an agricultural emphasis. (excited about this one, as we get to help architect the school farm) my other 2 electives will be PE and i will be doing a yoga/body maintenance class and a straight PE class with an emphasis on outdoor sports and recreation. as i am looking forward to this opportunity again, working with the kids of this community... the end of summer found me quicker than i had planned.

the last week, and all the little things, are always the hardest to get through in a project. but when it is all done it is very rewarding. 510 looks good, a little tweak here or there and its one of the best rentals in walsenburg. i appreciate all the help i got from jarrod this past week on the electric and keeping his head down to wrap this baby up.
the loft project is coming to a close with the most important thing to come.... electric:) ill have a final set of photos at the end of this week and anne will move in next weekend.
we are getting down to all the finishing touches, with a little painting left and another coat of poly on the front floor. the plumbing is basically done and we are focusing on the electric for the last 2 weeks. move in date Aug 1st:)
4 more weeks to wrap this mainstreet project up. my sister is in town this week to help and i am looking to get a lot of work done in the next two weeks. august looks like a tip to Oklahoma and Texas and a job or two. always looking for work...and will travel:)
i am starting a new remodel this week, half of the bottom floor of my sisters new building here in walsenburg. stay tuned for more pics of the progress on the new downtown loft.
i just wrapped up on a great project with the high school students here in walsenburg. it was an interesting collaboration between myself and 30+ students from design to install. as a semester project we completed the home side of the sports complex. it was a great learning experience for some of the kids and me for sure.
when you have a $800 budget for 60 kids in wood shop for supplies, you improvise.
spare plywood, oops paint and time and my and the students and i embarked on "the flower project". a fun and cheap way to spruce up a town that has its visual.trouble spots... or enhance some of the historical gems. couldn't have timed it better and get them up today. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY walsenburg:) two of my great friends from boone, NC came to wallyburg a week ago and we had a blast. It is very special when somebody drives 24 hours to come see you.... one way:) they both were a hit in this town and are missed.
every time someone has come to see me here, and i have exceeded my expectation of visitors, the town people have been so warm and welcoming, good stuff and way to go walsenburg. thanks margo and kim for a perfect visit, and such fun times exploring this beautiful part of the country. me and red will see you next time, and the town will be waiting:) |
